Mission Statement

To develop a sustainable economy in California in which businesses align profitability with environmental and social responsibility.

Who We Are

An alliance of California organizations working to promote sustainable business practices, policies and programs, including:

1. Business associations,

2. Service providers

3. Nonprofit organizations, and

4. Public agencies

What Inspires Us

      There are many organizations and agencies working independently in California to promote sustainable business activities. However most do not know of one another’s efforts and could benefit greatly from sharing information, resources, and best practices.

      There is great creative capacity among California businesses and those that assist them. We want to garner that capacity to establish a practical vision of a sustainable California economy.

What we will do

The California Sustainable Business Council will:

1. Share information about model business programs and services offered by different groups around the state

2. Organize and support statewide and local services, events and activities not presently offered to address sustainability issues

3. Promote and share best practices in sustainability for businesses of all sizes and sectors

4. Educate and engage member organizations in state and local policy discussions about sustainability

5. Enhance the capacity of member organizations to be more effective
